home history join donate shop projects casuals newsletters about us menu the primary club the cricketers' charity that raises money to provide sports and recreational facilities for the visually impaired fb -- getting quizzical at the oval on 4th july join us at the oval on wednesday 4th july for a quiz run by the nightwatchman magazine on behalf of the primary club. entering a team of up to 4 people costs £40 and, as well as enjoying the surroundings of the oval’s famous long room overlooking blind cricket in the uk blind cricket has been played in england & wales since the 1940’s. yhe sport was started as a means of recreation for injured servicemen coming home from the second world war and offers camaraderie and a chance to compete on equal terms for blind & partially sighted it’s that man again! in november 2017 michael savage once more arranged a fund raising luncheon on behalf of primary club. this seemingly indestructible octogenarian – whose infectious enthusiasm and energy fill the room – has again achieved a very successful result for primary club funds, raising just under four thousand 2017 british blind sport tenpin pairs championship final saturday 11th november saw the 2017 national final of this primary club sponsored competition take place in sheffield. thirty two teams had entered the country wide competition and were finally whittled down to the twelve who would contest the final. it so happened that two qualifiers – what the primary club means to me: a testimonial i have been enjoying visually impaired sports for 25 years, many of which have been funded by the primary club. from cricket, football, tenpin and bowls, your financial support not only allowed me to enjoy regular local club sessions, but also for the more competitive among us supporting children in mainstream education do you, or someone you know, work with blind or visually impaired children within mainstream schools? we are here to help! when the primary club was founded in 1955, the majority of blind and visually impaired children were educated in dedicated schools, such as the royal london 1 2 out first ball? ever been out first ball, or want to support our work? if so, join the primary club join donate shop follow @theprimaryclub my tweets – the general data protection regulations come into force on 25th may 2018. you can find the club’s data protection statement here [email protected] the primary club po box 12121, saffron walden, cb10 2zf registered charity no. 285285 the primary club copyright © 2018.
